Study tips
Private lessons vs self-study for Russian
Neither option is “wrong”. They solve different problems. Self-study is flexible and affordable; private lessons give correction, pacing, and speaking time you cannot fake with an app.
When self-study shines
You have a stable routine, you enjoy figuring things out from audio and text, and you mainly need vocabulary + reading practice early on. Neven digital packs work well here because they give structure apps often lack.
When private lessons pay off faster
You freeze when speaking, you are unsure about pronunciation, or cases feel abstract. A teacher models sentences you actually need and stops you from drilling mistakes 200 times.
The hybrid most learners use
1–2 lessons per week plus short daily self-study is often the sweet spot for busy adults. Lessons unlock the next chunk of grammar; homework cements it.
